Welcome to Christ Church and St Aldate's

This is one of the best known and grandest of all Oxford colleges and its chapel is the only one in the world to serve as a cathedral. It was founded by Cardinal Wolsey in 1525 on the site of the 12th century Priory of St Frideswide - Oxford's patron saint. Stained glass portrayals of St Frideswide dating from the 14th and 19th centuries can be seen in Christ Church Cathedral.
