In front of you is just one of the features that can tell us about how people managed to survive before the 20th century. At certain phases of the tide you can see a low stone wall running across the bay. This is a caraidh or fish-trap. As the sea went out fish were trapped in the water behind the wall, ensuring easy fishing if you did not have a boat.
