OpenVPN has added HTTP proxy support for TCP client mode in version 1.5. I have now implemented Socks5 support for TCP and UDP client modes (although I have only tested UDP operation yet). I plan to submit my patch to the upstream maintainer later today...

I noticed quite high latency when using kphone due to the sound driver output buffer filling up. I fixed it in kphone (included in my Debian package and reported to the upstream maintainer) by checking the size of the output buffer and dropping fragments if the buffer starts to fill up.
But the more severe remaining issue was that ALSA's usb-audio driver included in the 2.6 kernel is broken (resulting in "cannot submit datapipe for urb 0, err = -22" errors). Upgrading to ALSA 1.0.2 (which depends on Linux 2.6.2-rc2 or later) fixed this as well.
And btw, if you are looking for an alternative VoIP client for Linux you can give SJphone for Linux a try (although it's not Open Source).

One month after the transition of cmeerw.org to domainsteam.de I am still satisfied with my new Web hoster. Just yesterday they have added SSL-encryption support for POP3, IMAP and SMTP. This attitude of continuous improvement gives me a comfortable feeling.

I finally got VoIP working on my Linux machine at home. It wasn't quite as easy as I had hoped, because I had to fix a bug in Siproxd and a bug in kphone to make it finally work. Packages for Debian woody are available from my Debian packages page.
I still need to report the bugs/fixes to the upstream software maintainers...
