Base system
For extracting the Debian packages I use a shell-script (deb-install) which sends me an
e-mail message with a log of the installation for further storage into
a database system. The script basically executes the following
commands:
ar p package data.tar.gz | tar -xvpUzf -
There are two more shell-scripts: deb-view for viewing the contents of a Debian package and conf-install for logging
the installation of configuration files.
