I finally found a deadlock in JabRSS that has been the cause of some recent downtimes. Interestingly, the bug wasn't some logic error in the program code, but it was a simple indentation error introduced about 2 months ago (in revision 161) when re-indenting a code block (you know, Python uses indentation for grouping of statements, so you have to be extremely careful when re-indenting code).

The Web site has been moved to a new server, the domain has been transferred to Gandi and the DNS zone has been updated.
Unfortunately, one problem occured during the domain transfer: Gandi has somewhat messed up the registrant information of my domain. Previously, registrant name was "Christof Meerwald" and registrant organization was "Privat" (meaning private, no organization), now registrant name is "Privat". I hope they will soon respond and clean up the mess.

After this summer's domain transfer woes, I have finally found a new home for cmeerw.org. I am currently transferring the domain to Gandi and have chosen domainsteam.de as the new Web hoster. It's a small Web hoster, but it is responsive to wishes and comments (and one of just a few hosters that don't force you to also transfer your domain to them).

Well, Linux 2.6.0 has been released about a week ago, so it's probably time to give it a try on my Debian woody system at home. Looking through the kernel configuration options took some time, but once the configuration was done, it compiled without any problems. Of course, I upgraded modutils and installed module-init-tools from backports.org before rebooting the machine.
Surprisingly, I only encountered a few problems after the reboot with the new kernel: I had to update chrony and configure module-init-tools to match my old modutils configuration. But everything else seems to work, so I will be using 2.6 from now on...
