This week's Debian Weekly News has mentioned Progeny's Componentized GNU/Linux. Taking a look at it, the idea isn't new at all -- it's roughly the same idea as mentioned in my Yet Another Debian GNU/Linux Rant (published more than 2 years ago). But that doesn't mean it's a bad idea, I still think it's a step in the right direction.

My custom firmware for the Linksys WRT54G is mostly complete now. I have added the BIRD Internet Routing Daemon for RIPv2 support and worked on the startup program to create the configurations from NVRAM settings. What's still missing is an update to the Web interface to add support for the new features.

I have updated my Debian woody package of kphone to 4.0.2 which contains a fix for a DoS bug. As usual, my package is available from my Debian packages page.

Being back in Salzburg I'd like to mention a few things: the weather was surprisingly good in Oxford, it was mostly sunny except on Sunday. Having wireless Internet access at the conference was definitely a good thing, although the Personal Firewall software installed on my notebook noticed a few intrusion attempts (mostly DCOM/RPC buffer overflow attempts).
