Tue Jul 27 20:24:13 2004 GMT: New Linksys Firmware for WRT54G

Linksys has just released an updated firmware for the WRT54G, see here. As this is once again an official firmware release, they have made the source code available for the firmware.

I think the most important improvements are a new wireless driver (supporting client isolation) and the update of the gcc toolchain to a more up-to-date version.

Tue Jul 27 20:11:26 2004 GMT: uptimes and TCP Plugins for downtime

Yes, there is now an uptimes plugin for downtime. It's up and running on edge.cmeerw.net, so you can check its uptime here.

I have also added a simple TCP plugin that only checks if a TCP connection can be established.

Sun Jul 25 08:24:14 2004 GMT: OpenVPN 2.0 beta7

I have updated my Debian package of OpenVPN to beta 7, see my Debian packages page.

Wed Jul 21 08:14:01 2004 GMT: GPL Issues Update

Ok, LinksysInfo.org has updated their download section and added a working link for the source code download.

I also got a reply from Linksys saying that they will release the source code for the beta firmware once the beta period is over.

Tue Jul 20 18:53:31 2004 GMT: GPL Issues

No, I am not talking about sveasoft's business model (which might be in full compliance with the GPL). But this Web site offers some binary-only firmware for the WRT54G without any source code (it doesn't even include any contact information).

And of course, there is linksysinfo.org which has a link to firmware binaries in the download section, but the link to the source code is broken. They claim on their home page that they are only linking to some other Web site (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mcmntl/satori/) and are therefore not responsible. Well, it doesn't look like a "random" Web site if you compare the whois information of linksysinfo.org with the URL...

And last but not least, Linksys offers a 2.02.8 beta firmware, but there is no source code for that version available yet. Though, the 2.02.7 source code is available.
