I have implemented some (still limited) support for member templates for the OpenWatcom C++ compiler. Furthermore, I have also implemented static assertions and updated the parser to handle right angle brackets according to this proposal.

Today I finally managed to successfully complete my Solaris 10 installation (after my first attempt failed about three months ago).
I cowardly worked around the missing SATA support by connecting a plain old IDE drive. This enabled me to run through the installation process and get it installed, but it still didn't support my network adapter (which is an onboard RTL8169 chip). Fortunately, I found a working driver on Masayuki Murayama's site.
BTW, when logging in you can choose between a CDE and a Java Desktop System session. The interesting thing here is that when you choose the Java Desktop System, you see lots of Java icons scattered around, like a "Java Launch" bar or a Web browser with a Java logo. Of course, that doesn't mean that all of this software is actually written in Java. It's merely a GNOME desktop (with Mozilla being used as a Web browser) which has been rebranded with some Java icons.

Now that the ACCU conference is over, I am taking a few days holiday before returning to Austria.
For no particular reason, I decided to travel to Bournemouth (via Winchester, where I walked around the city for some time). BTW, I am staying at The Hostel Inn which offers free wireless internet access in your room.

So, what happend on the final two day's of the ACCU conference?
Of course, there is no way to top these in-depth presentations by Stroustrup and Sutter on the previous two days. But Ottosen tried his best to keep the high standard with his presentations of the current Design by Contract proposal for C++0x and the Boost range and pointer container libraries.
There was also a presentation on "What's New in EJB 3.0", but it only attracted a small audience (it seems that Java guys really had a hard time on this conference).
Oh, there is one more thing I should note: Coplien told us in his keynote on Friday to break symmetry (because broken symmetry is beauty, etc.), and on Saturday one of Kevlin Henney's main points was to make things symmetric (to keep it simple, etc.).
