Sun Jun 12 09:13:28 2005 GMT: PHP 5.1 Beta

Sun May 22 16:15:09 2005 GMT: PHP5 @ domainsteam

A few days ago domainsteam.de has increased the Web space quota and the traffic allowance of all Web space packages, in my case the Web space quota has been increased to 625 MB (although I only used about 50 % of the previously allowed 250 MB, so I guess this will be plenty of space for the near future).

And this weekend they upgraded their PHP packages to 4.3.11 and 5.0.4 (apparently using the Debian packages from dotdeb.org). Unfortunatly, these packages don't include support for gdbm databases any more, so I had to change some of my PHP scripts to work with SQLite which is included in PHP5.

Mon May 16 21:05:11 2005 GMT: Member Templates and C++0x Extensions

I have implemented some (still limited) support for member templates for the OpenWatcom C++ compiler. Furthermore, I have also implemented static assertions and updated the parser to handle right angle brackets according to this proposal.

Mon May 16 13:09:40 2005 GMT: Winchester, Bournemouth and London

Last week I have added some pictures of Winchester, Bournemouth and London (here and here) from my few days of holiday at the end of April to my photo album.

Thu May 05 16:33:23 2005 GMT: Solaris 10

Today I finally managed to successfully complete my Solaris 10 installation (after my first attempt failed about three months ago).

I cowardly worked around the missing SATA support by connecting a plain old IDE drive. This enabled me to run through the installation process and get it installed, but it still didn't support my network adapter (which is an onboard RTL8169 chip). Fortunately, I found a working driver on Masayuki Murayama's site.

BTW, when logging in you can choose between a CDE and a Java Desktop System session. The interesting thing here is that when you choose the Java Desktop System, you see lots of Java icons scattered around, like a "Java Launch" bar or a Web browser with a Java logo. Of course, that doesn't mean that all of this software is actually written in Java. It's merely a GNOME desktop (with Mozilla being used as a Web browser) which has been rebranded with some Java icons.

Sun Apr 24 21:42:10 2005 GMT: Bournemouth

Now that the ACCU conference is over, I am taking a few days holiday before returning to Austria.

For no particular reason, I decided to travel to Bournemouth (via Winchester, where I walked around the city for some time). BTW, I am staying at The Hostel Inn which offers free wireless internet access in your room.
