According a this blog entry in the Visual C++ Team Blog, the VC++ development team is working on including a publically accessible AST (Abstract Syntax Tree) API in their compiler. While the idea isn't particularly new, it's nonetheless good news for any C++ tools developer, as it will provide them access to a full C++ parser. Maybe we will finally see some good and affordable static code analysis tools for C++ in the future.
BTW, the only concern I have with their approach is that they plan to keep the whole program's AST in memory. But then it will probably require Vista anyway, so prepare to buy a few GBs of memory to use this compiler.

According to this news article, the merger between Alcatel and Lucent has been approved by both Alcatel and Lucent shareholders. Lucent has already issued a press release.
