After a long time with online limited Internet access, I have now finally managed to get a landline telephone + ADSL broadband connected here. I even got the Speedtouch 330 ADSL USB modem working under Linux (which was quite straigforward, except that I had to separately download the modem fireware).
Once online, I updated my laptop (which was still running Ubuntu breezy badger) to the Ubuntu edgy eft beta.
BTW, I only opted for a 1 Mbps connection, but that should be fast enough, particulary as ELinks is still one of my favourite browsers.

I spent last week on holday in Belgium (Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent) and Luxembourg, weather was quite good, with sunshine half of the time. I'll try to add a few photos to my digital photo album in the next few days.

According a this blog entry in the Visual C++ Team Blog, the VC++ development team is working on including a publically accessible AST (Abstract Syntax Tree) API in their compiler. While the idea isn't particularly new, it's nonetheless good news for any C++ tools developer, as it will provide them access to a full C++ parser. Maybe we will finally see some good and affordable static code analysis tools for C++ in the future.
BTW, the only concern I have with their approach is that they plan to keep the whole program's AST in memory. But then it will probably require Vista anyway, so prepare to buy a few GBs of memory to use this compiler.
