I am not sure if I have ever mentioned greylstd (a greylisting daemon for Exim), but I have now put together version 0.2 which improves whitelisting functionality (whitelisting by sender and by sender IP-subnet). BTW, there is now also a pre-compiled Ubuntu (dapper drake) package available.

The Financial Times has a worrying article about "Google's ambition to maximise the personal information it holds on users". One of the key statements is that "[...] gathering more personal data was a key way for Google to expand [...]"

Broken DNS setups are probably quite common and usually not worth mentioning, but it's kind of odd when a web site that describes itself as "the Leader in Network Knowledge" doesn't get its DNS setup right.
The domain networkworld.com has two nameservers listed at the registrar, but the authoritative nameservers only return a NS record for ns1.nww.com.

On Monday I cleaned up inactive user accounts for JabRSS (inactive means users that haven't received a single message from JabRSS in more than half a year). This brought down the number of registered users to just over 2000 (from around 3000).

This Thursday we had local elections in Swindon. Maybe the most exciting thing about the election was that you could opt to cast your vote over the Internet (even though doubts over its security remain).
