You have to use the JDK 1.2 or higher to develop with HORB Extension CORBA IIOP. It is a reason for the defference of the specification between the JDK 1.1 and the JDK 1.2. 10 May 2000: ORBacus 4.0 released
ORBacus 4 is fully compliant with the CORBA 2.3 standard, including important new features such as the Portable Object Adapter and Objects by Value. ORBacus 4 also supports some features of the upcoming CORBA 3 standard, including Portable Interceptors. 31 May 2000: OB 4.0.1 released

Work on the Java version of TAO has official begun. It will implement a Java version of CORBA with all the standard features that TAO has. omniNotify version 1.0 is now available. Like omniORB, it is released under the GPL / LGPL. omniNotify is a multi-threaded implementation of the CORBA Notification Service (CosNotification), a feature-enriched version of the CORBA Event Service (CosEvents). omniNotify offers asynchronous, decoupled, event-based communication between distributed and heterogeneous applications. 15 Oct 2000: ORBacus/E released
OOC today released ORBacus/E(TM), an ultra-fast and ultra-compact Object Request Broker (ORB) for demanding telecom applications, such as voice-over-IP, or optical routing devices. 27 Oct 2000: JacORB 1.2.2
JacORB 1.2.2 is a maintenance release and does not add new functionality. The new release mainly fixes two memory leaks and two IDL compiler bugs. 03 Nov 2000: JacORB 1.2.3
JacORB 1.2.3 fixes a number of building problems and a few minor problems with client-side management of references. 09 Nov 2000: JavaORB 2.2.7

The remaining CORBA 2.3 incompatibilities have been fixed besides lots of other changes and bug fixes. 11 Dec 2000: ORBacus 4.0.4
Aside from numerous fixes, the noteworthy items in this release include support for the AIX Visual Age 5.0 C++ compiler (with the 5.0.0.2 PTF), and a workaround for a performance problem in Windows 2000. | |||||
