This announcement is to let you know about a new TclMico beta, the first not to require MICO any more, as it is now portable to other CORBA 2.3 ORBs as well...

09 Jan 2000: MICO-MT 2000-01-10 snapshot

A new MICO/MT snapshot is out. It includes all 2.3.1 changes and should actually be stable enough to try it.

25 Jan 2000: HORB 2.0 Beta 2 is available

It now supportes http-tunneling as an extension package. Added improvement of plug-in architecture and one-way method support in core package.

09 Feb 2000: MICO-MT 2000-02-09 snapshot

No new features, but tons of bug fixes and the ORB is stable now

10 Feb 2000: JacORB 1.0 Beta 15 available

Beta 15 introduces the transaction service, improves performance and fixes a number of bugs.

13 Feb 2000: ORBacus 3.3 w/ ORBacus Trader

Object Oriented Concepts, Inc., is pleased to announce that ORBacus(TM) for Java(TM) now includes ORBacus Trader(TM), a full implementation of the OMG Trading Service specification. Also included is the ORBacus Names(TM) Console, which greatly simplifies the administration of the ORBacus Naming Service.

16 Feb 2000: OOC Canada releases Free SSL

Object Oriented Concepts, Inc., Canada, is pleased to announce the release of Free SSL(TM), a Secure Sockets Layer plug-in for ORBacus(TM) for C++ and Java(TM). Free SSL is public domain software and is released under the Berkeley license.

20 Feb 2000: ORBit 0.5.1 now available

21 Feb 2000: omniORB 3 pre-release 2 now available

The most significant change is the replacement of the old IDL compiler with a new omniidl.

22 Feb 2000: HORB 2.0 Beta 2.2 is available

Now we release HORB ver2.0 beta2.2, the bug-fixed version of HORB ver2.0 beta2.1.

24 Feb 2000: ORBacus 4 for Java Beta now available

full support for the Portable Object Adapter (POA), includes Objects by Value (OBV), features the latest IDL-to-Java mapping specification, support for IIOP version 1.2, includes Trading, Naming, Event, and Property services.

15 Mar 2000: ACE 5.1 and TAO 1.1 are now available

03 Apr 2000: JacORB 1.1 is available

The improvements in reliability, language mapping compliance, memory usage, performance and robustness achieved over the recent months made us drop the "beta".

23 Apr 2000: OB4.0b3 now available

OB4.0b3, our "final beta", is now available for download, both the C++ and Java versions.

26 Apr 2000: Interoperable Naming Service available for omniORB 3

28 Apr 2000: HORB ver2.0 beta2.3 released

You have to use the JDK 1.2 or higher to develop with HORB Extension CORBA IIOP. It is a reason for the defference of the specification between the JDK 1.1 and the JDK 1.2.

10 May 2000: ORBacus 4.0 released

ORBacus 4 is fully compliant with the CORBA 2.3 standard, including important new features such as the Portable Object Adapter and Objects by Value. ORBacus 4 also supports some features of the upcoming CORBA 3 standard, including Portable Interceptors.

31 May 2000: OB 4.0.1 released

We just released ORBacus 4.0.1, which fixes several bugs we found in the last weeks.

13 Jun 2000: MICO 2.3.3 released

MICO 2.3.3 is out. This is mostly a bug fix release, although there are some minor new features. This release includes alpha versions of lifecycle and externalization services.

21 Jun 2000: ZEN - the Java version of TAO

Work on the Java version of TAO has official begun. It will implement a Java version of CORBA with all the standard features that TAO has. The name of the ORB is ZEN, which is currently a self-recursive acronym that stands for something like "ZEN Extensible Net-nodes."

13 Jul 2000: omniORB 3.0.0 available

Support for the Portable Object Adapter (POA); support for the Interoperable Naming Service (INS); New strict 2.3 compliant IDL compiler

omniORBpy is a robust, high-performance CORBA 2.3 ORB for Python.

17 Aug 2000: omniORB 3.0.1 available

06 Sep 2000: ORBacus 4.0.3 released

The new version includes a few bug fixes, and is required for ORBacus OTS 1.0b1.

14 Sep 2000: JacORB 1.2.1 released

JacORB 1.2 introduces HTTP tunneling and DomainManager. It also contains improved SSL support and, of course, a large number of bug fixes.

This is a bug fixed version from HORB 2.0.

08 Oct 2000: omniNotify version 1.0

omniNotify version 1.0 is now available. Like omniORB, it is released under the GPL / LGPL. omniNotify is a multi-threaded implementation of the CORBA Notification Service (CosNotification), a feature-enriched version of the CORBA Event Service (CosEvents). omniNotify offers asynchronous, decoupled, event-based communication between distributed and heterogeneous applications.

15 Oct 2000: ORBacus/E released

OOC today released ORBacus/E(TM), an ultra-fast and ultra-compact Object Request Broker (ORB) for demanding telecom applications, such as voice-over-IP, or optical routing devices.

27 Oct 2000: JacORB 1.2.2

JacORB 1.2.2 is a maintenance release and does not add new functionality. The new release mainly fixes two memory leaks and two IDL compiler bugs.

03 Nov 2000: JacORB 1.2.3

JacORB 1.2.3 fixes a number of building problems and a few minor problems with client-side management of references.

09 Nov 2000: JavaORB 2.2.7

What's new in JavaORB 2.2.7: some bugs fixed (bugs reported by users), core update to support components, IIOP bugs fixed

29 Nov 2000: ORBit 0.5.5

The biggest thing about it is DynAny support, courtesy of Michael Meeks. There are also the usual bug fixes.

07 Dec 2000: MICO 2.3.4

The remaining CORBA 2.3 incompatibilities have been fixed besides lots of other changes and bug fixes.

11 Dec 2000: ORBacus 4.0.4

Aside from numerous fixes, the noteworthy items in this release include support for the AIX Visual Age 5.0 C++ compiler (with the 5.0.0.2 PTF), and a workaround for a performance problem in Windows 2000.
