Wed Apr 14 07:49:02 2004 GMT: Travelling to Oxford

In order to attend a conference in Oxford, you have to actually get there first. So I took a Ryanair flight from Salzburg to London Stansted where I then proceeded to Oxford by bus. Fortunately I arrived in Stansted just in time for the bus to Oxford, allowing me to spend the afternoon walking around Oxford and taking some pictures (which will be published later, but probably aren't that different from my previous visit to Oxford anyway).

Mon Apr 12 19:47:58 2004 GMT: siproxd 0.5.5

My Debian woody package of siproxd 0.5.5 is now available from my Debian packages page.

Mon Apr 12 19:43:32 2004 GMT: ACCU Spring Conference 2004

I will be attending the ACCU Spring Conference 2004 in Oxford this week. The Programme Highlights look really interesting, so I guess this will be a lot of fun.

Sat Apr 10 12:01:23 2004 GMT: bogofilter 0.17.5

I have updated my bogofilter package for Debian woody to 0.17.5. Please note that I have renamed the binary package to bogofilter-tdb (because it uses tdb as its backend instead of the standard db4.x backend).

Mon Apr 05 20:48:28 2004 GMT: Firmware Build Woes

I spent some time tracking down a problem in WRT54G's build system which causes my updated busybox to segfault. Actually, even a simple hello world program (syscall(__NR_write, 1, "Hello world\n", 12);) dumped core when dynamically linked, but it worked when linked with the static libc.a.

The culprit seems to be a nasty optimization of the shared libraries. The build system tries to only include those symbols that are actually used by some installed program. Unfortunately, it fails to process the symbols busybox depends on for some reason (mipsel-uclibc-nm refused to work on the busybox binary) and therefore it doesn't include the syscall function (and probably others).
