I have attended some interesting technical talks at this year's LinuxTag and also joined a demonstration against software patents on Thursday evening. Henrik Mitsch has done a good job at posting notes about some of the presentations in his blog.

Just as mentioned last week, OpenWatcom 1.3 Beta has now been released.

I will be at this year's LinuxTag in Karlsruhe from Thursday until Saturday, hope to see some Linux enthusiasts there.

OpenWatcom 1.3 seems to be nearing its release. According to Michal Necasek most tests seem to be working with the new C++ compiler, so I guess a beta release might be possible by the end of June and the final 1.3 release might happen sometime in July or August.
The good thing about the upcoming release, of course, is that it will contain some improvements for the C++ compiler, i.e. digraphs and alternative token support, default template arguments, new for-scoping rules and some namespace fixes.
