I have just fixed a really nasty JabRSS bug which caused messages from JabRSS to mysteriously disappear. It turned out that one RSS feed contained a '\0'-character that was interpreted as an end-of-string marker when sending the XML to the Jabber server. This left an XML tag open in the XML stream and therefore the following messages disappeared.
Although the resulting XML stream was still well-formed, the Jabber server could not process the messages because of an unclosed tag.

I have updated the jabberd running on cmeerw.org with the latest patches from http://www.marquard.net/jabber/ and enabled TLS on server-to-server connections.
Tue Oct 26 14:42:47 2004 GMT: Lycos VDS: Stale NFS File Handles
The Lycos VDS have finally been able to fix the file locking problem, but now another problem has appeared: every few hours I get a "stale NFS file handle" error (apparently for the root directory).
Interestingly, despite of the problems, Lycos France has already launched their VDS server product.

There seems to be a serious bug in the base64 decoding routines for SASL authentication in Jabberd 2. I have posted a fix for it on the jabberd mailing list.
