Finally got my Subversion server working with LDAP support. The solution/workaround was to use LD_PRELOAD to force Linux to use Berkeley DB V4 (instead of V2 which is used by the LDAP libraries). I hope this doesn't have any negative side-effects...

You all know Windows' DLL Hell, but Linux has similar problems. I tried to install a Subversion server with LDAP authentication but failed because the LDAP libraries (on Debian GNU/Linux) are linked against Berkeley DB V2, but the Subversion Apache2 Module needs Berkeley DB V4 and you can't use two different Berkeley DB versions in one program.

Nearly every Web hosting provider offers some kind of server housing, meaning you can run your server in a remote hosting centre. But most providers only care about network connectivity and offer some kind of remote power control to reboot your server. But why don't they offer serial console access to make firewall reconfigurations or kernel updates a little less of a pain for the customer?

It seems most Web applications don't do any input validation. They just trust the browser and the user to not mess with the data. So I guess they don't do any security tests either or think about security issues.

I have moved more than 750 pictures to ImageEvent. So all my pictures should now be available again in all resolutions.
