Web hosting providers start to offer quite cheap dedicated virtual servers (starting at around EUR 10,--): VD-Server, VServer (Server4free) and VIS (rh-tec.de). Maybe worth a look if you need a bit more than PHP/CGI, but don't want to spend too much money.

I have worked a bit on JabRSS lately. Mostly fixed some minor (non user-visible) bugs, but also added a "show statistics" command to get some basic server usage statistics.

Finally got my Subversion server working with LDAP support. The solution/workaround was to use LD_PRELOAD to force Linux to use Berkeley DB V4 (instead of V2 which is used by the LDAP libraries). I hope this doesn't have any negative side-effects...

You all know Windows' DLL Hell, but Linux has similar problems. I tried to install a Subversion server with LDAP authentication but failed because the LDAP libraries (on Debian GNU/Linux) are linked against Berkeley DB V2, but the Subversion Apache2 Module needs Berkeley DB V4 and you can't use two different Berkeley DB versions in one program.
