Mon Nov 12 19:00:06 2007 GMT: SEO Link Builder

So what does an SEO Link Builder do? Apparently, surfing the web and contacting blog owners to persuade them to add advertising or at least links to their blog. Well, I just got an e-mail from an SEO Link Builder who has apparently found my blog via Ministry of Propaganda: Blogging Abroad and asked me to blog about the "great" products of a VoIP service provider (or alternatively at least add a link to their web page). Interestingly, he didn't offer anything in return: no free call package, nothing. Very strange...

I have e-mailed back to ask for permission to publish his original e-mail, but I doubt that he will get back to me.

Sat Nov 10 22:24:12 2007 GMT: swindon.gov.uk

What happened to the Swindon Borough Council web site? At the moment, I am only getting a "Welcome to NetNames" parking page. A whois lookup doesn't return much useful information, but the DNS SOA record (ns1.netnames.net. hostmaster.netnames.net. 2007110910 10800 1800 3600000 21600) suggests that NetNames has changed to zone on Friday.

Thu Nov 01 20:09:30 2007 GMT: Alcatel-Lucent's Q3 Results

There has been a lot of news coverage of Alcatel-Lucent's third quarter results: Alcatel-Lucent to cut an extra 4,000 jobs @ IHT, Alcatel cuts deeper as makeover stalls @ IHT, Alcatel cuts 4,000 more jobs @ FT. CNN Money asks Can Russo save Alcatel-Lucent? and The Financial Times (via Yahoo) goes one step further asking "Are wrong heads rolling in Alcatel-Lucent's revamp?"

Sun Oct 28 11:28:27 2007 GMT: High Scalability

High Scalability contains some good information about highly scalable websites. Apparently, most of the websites described use a combination of Squid, Apache, lighttpd, PHP and MySQL...

Sat Oct 13 10:56:23 2007 GMT: Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon

I have already updated my laptop to the Ubuntu gutsy gibbon release candidate which went very smoothly. What surprised me a bit, though, was that Ubuntu has chosen to integrate AppArmor instead of SELinux.

Fri Oct 05 18:21:43 2007 GMT: Beware of Zombie Threads

Mon Oct 01 20:18:49 2007 GMT: IPv6 Support for SIPFwd

Sat Sep 29 09:40:41 2007 GMT: Hard Times at Alcatel-Lucent
