Upgrade to Ubuntu 11.10 went very well. Essentially the only problem I encountered was when I moved from gdm to lightdm, I confused it with ldm - it took me some time to figure out that ldm is not what I wanted...

Today I have been to Limen / Marguerite and Armand / Requiem at the Royal Opera House. I should have paid a bit more attention to the notes where they mention "contemporary thrill" for Limen - "modern rubbish" would be more accurate. Anyway, it got better after the first interval and the Requiem in particular was quite good.

Both of these try to convince you that you need a Google/Yahoo account to join a group, but while in the case of Yahoo Groups, they mention the alternative e-mail subscription address on the group information page, Google has this information well hidden in the help.
But as usually read these groups via Gmane, I like to set it to no e-mail. This is possible with Yahoo Groups even if you don't have a Yahoo account, but it's apparently impossible with Google Groups (unless you join the group via a Google account).
Maybe Yahoo was just too busy with other things so they couldn't mess up their Yahoo Groups more...
