Sun Aug 31 10:41:20 2014 GMT: Release early, release often

Doesn't really work that well with Firefox OS either as it takes too long (at least in my opinion) for applications to be reviewed for the Marketplace. It took almost 4 days for the initial version of HikingMaps to be reviewed and am currently waiting for version 0.2 to be reviewed (since Friday evening).

Sun Aug 31 10:38:12 2014 GMT: Cloud Storage with Firefox OS

Well, it's pretty much completely absent. The only thing I have found is the Box application which essentially is just a link to the mobile web site. Unfortunately this means that it doesn't integrate with other applications on the device.

The proper Firefox OS way appears to be to integrate via Web Activities and in my opinion Mozilla would need to take the lead on this one and provide a generic WebDAV application for that. BTW, a generic application for accessing the local file system would also be a good idea. That way application developers then wouldn't need to worry about filesystem access at all and can just use the appropriate Web Activities and get local/cloud storage support for free.

Wed Aug 20 17:51:54 2014 GMT: HikingMaps Application for Firefox OS

Just got my HikingMaps application for Firefox OS approved and added to the Firefox Marketplace. Remember that this is the initial version and might be a bit rough around the edges, but I am using it myself when going for a walk in the countryside.

Mon Aug 18 20:12:27 2014 GMT: Seven Sisters and Lulworth Cove/Durdle Door

Been on a walk from Seaford to Eastbourne for the famous Seven Sisters on Saturday and another walk from Wool via Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door to Weymouth on Sunday. See here, here, here and here for pictures.

Mon Aug 11 18:32:02 2014 GMT: Torridon (Scotland Wester Ross) Holiday

Been to Torridon (Wester Ross) for some well-deserved holiday for the past few days. Although the weather was quite Scottish (lots of rain), I still managed to enjoy it quite a lot. Most of the time I stayed at the Torridon camp site (which is quite basic, but free), but also spent one night wild camping in the hills next to Loch Coire Lair and another night at the Tea House mountain bothy.

Pictures are available from my digital photo album as usual.
