I have now implemented a further improvement to my cmeerw.org e-mail setup by switching the primary MX to the 1and1.co.uk mail servers as I hope that these servers will be much more reliable than the current mail server included in my Web hosting plan. To be able to use 1and1's mail servers, I just had to register a new domain (compiler.org.uk) there for around 2.30 GBP/year. Of course, edge.cmeerw.net is still acting as a secondary MX.

After experiencing serious technical problems on 20th October, dmoz.org is finally open for editing again.

Just to try another freely available C++ compiler, I have installed Turbo C++ Explorer and updated my Win32 C++ compilers page.
Sun Dec 10 19:02:07 2006 GMT: jabberd 2.1, omniORB 4.1, OpenWatcom 1.6
In the past couple of days a new version of the jabberd2 server has been released, see ftp.xiaoka.com. This release finally includes support for epoll on Linux to improve scalability (based on my epoll patches for jabberd 2.0s11).
Also, omniORB 4.1.0 has been released which now includes support for IPv6 and Objects-by-Value, definitely another important milestone for this project (although I haven't had much chance to work with omniORB lately).
And finally, the release of OpenWatcom 1.6 is imminent. While this release (like 1.5) won't include many improvements to the C++ compiler, the C++ compiler is still being worked on.

According to this CNET News.com story, HP-UX 11iv3 will already begin shipping this year. Unfortunately, the story is quite shallow on technical details, but I hope 11iv3 will soon make it to HP's Testdrive (hopefully on a Montecito system).
