SYN and FIN packets are not affected, but any data is just silently dropped (resulting in retransmissions).

So why does Sun want to acquire MySQL? In the past they appeared to lean much more towards PostgreSQL. And in fact PostgreSQL for Solaris still says: "If you want a database that offers the assurance of a high-end SQL database on Solaris and the cost benefits of open source, PostgreSQL for Solaris is it."

There are a few things worth pointing out in Economist's Three fearless predictions: the article claims that "the biggest road-hog remains spam (unsolicited e-mail), which accounts for 90% of traffic on the internet". That figure doesn't sound plausible - according to P2P growth creates battle for bandwidth e-mail only uses a few percent of the total internet traffic, while P2P eats up more than three quarters of all traffic (what the author was probably trying to say is that spam accounts for 90 % of e-mail traffic).

BTW, the other point worth mentioning is: "No question, [Ubuntu] Gutsy Gibbon is the sleekest, best integrated and most user-friendly Linux distribution yet. It's now simpler to set up and configure than Windows."
