Alcatel-Lucent has reported a net loss of EUR 3.52 billion for 2007. According to the press release it got rid of 6700 employees last year. SYN and FIN packets are not affected, but any data is just silently dropped (resulting in retransmissions).

So why does Sun want to acquire MySQL? In the past they appeared to lean much more towards PostgreSQL. And in fact PostgreSQL for Solaris still says: "If you want a database that offers the assurance of a high-end SQL database on Solaris and the cost benefits of open source, PostgreSQL for Solaris is it."
